Big Win At The Bridge

It did not take long for the highlight reel to commence in 2009...not 30 seconds after the first bounce of 2009 Kim Pearce dropped an easy chest mark in the goal square only to see the ball roll over the line...was this a sign of things to come?
2009 had arrived...Tony Oates hand balled to team mate Alex Tucker only to proceed to tackle him...much to everyone's disbelief 'Tuck' actually got a free kick...the Supertigers were back in action and the umpires continue to dazzle us!
The Murray Bridge boys turned on the wind machine...kicking to the cemetery end with what felt like a 10 goal breeze, the Hill's boys managed to kick 10 goals in the first quarter with a brand of football no longer seen in the AFL...Dave Piro deserves an AFL coaching gig!...
Dick Kleeman seemed right at home going to the cemetery end kicking long and direct and dominating out of the middle...Toughman Chris Hill's quick snap at
goal was another highlight in the 1st...the Murray Bridge boys had no answer to the power game of the Supertigers and coach Dave Piro was very comfortable, so much so that he emulated Geelong's 'Bomber' Thompson enjoying a Subway Roll!

The second quarter required some resolute defending and the implementing of the Hill's rolling zone...not much zoning but a fair bit of rolling! The Murray may be drying up but the goals continued with the Bridge boys kicking 4 to the Hill's 1 against the howler.
Some great recruiting over the summer months has strengthened the Supertiger's prospects in 2009...the return of 'Snappy' Tom Hancock with 4 goals after 2 years in therapy, rookies Sean Watt 4 goals, Wayne Seymour, Damian Dolman and Michael Dawe sees the Tigers with an extremely handy list. They just need to learn the team rule!!! Leave room for bustling full forward Gary 'Specky' Magee.
Max McGregor shone in the ruck in the absence of big man Aleks Bojanic, Matt Ormsby was again strong at centre half forward a
nd ex SANFL star Paul Zoontjens kept things tight in defence. The hard running of Simon Kemp, Mark Jaensch and the uncompromising David 'Runt' Wundtke shattered the boys from the river. Resolute defending by Dale 'Coyote' Wiley, Chris 'Fritz' Geraghty, Neil Thomson and Tony Oates kept the Bridge boys to 7 goals while the elusiveness of Dave McGill, Ron 'Chuck' Berry, Kim Pearce and Alex Tucker broke the home side.
